Black is the easiest color to wear with any hiking outfit, and on the Soaker it comes with a braided faux leather band and a small tassel. Under the trim: polyester and lightweight mesh, a liner you can soak, a 3 3/4 in outback crown and a 2 3/4 in brim. The listing notes a sun protection rating of 50, water resistance and an adjustable chin cord. The Velcro sweatband is removable. Sizes go from SM to 3X, and it's assembled in the USA.

Margo's tip: Keep it out of a hot car between hikes. Hats and back windows do not get along.

How should it fit?
Level on your head, about a finger above your eyebrows, clearing the tops of your ears. Sizes in stock run SM to 3X. SM fits heads 21 to 21 7/8 in (54 to 55 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. Between sizes, size up and add an insert.
Is the Soaker UPF rated?
Yes. The store lists a UPF 50 rating. The Skin Cancer Foundation says UPF 50 fabric blocks 98 percent of the sun's rays. Sunscreen still goes on the bits the brim misses.
Does it pack flat?
