MyHatFinder is free to use. We make money when you buy a hat through one of our store links: the store may pay us a commission on that sale. You pay the store’s normal price. The commission never adds to it.
How the links work
Store links on MyHatFinder go through an affiliate network, Awin, which tells the store the sale came from us. Wherever store buttons appear, one short line says: “We earn a commission if you buy, at no cost to you.” Links to stores also carry the web’s standard “sponsored” tag, so search engines know they’re affiliate links.
We don’t pass your personal details to the store or to Awin. The link carries a random code that only means something to us, so we can tell which page led to a sale. Our privacy policy has the details.
Preferred Brand
American Hat Makers is our Preferred Brand. That’s our own editorial pick: they don’t pay for it, and they don’t pay for placement. Like every store we link to, they pay us a commission on sales we send them through Awin. We may feature their hats in boxes marked “Preferred Brand,” and their hats carry that label wherever they appear on the site.
We picked them as our launch store for their range of cowboy and straw hats, their craftsmanship guarantee, their return policy, their shipping speed and how long they’ve been making hats.* The Hat Finder’s Match score is calculated the same way for every hat and doesn’t use Preferred Brand status or commission. Prices and stock
Prices, sale prices and sizes come from the store’s product feed, and pages show the date of that feed. Stores change prices and stock often, so the price at checkout is the one that counts.
What we don’t do
We don’t accept payment for positive coverage, and we don’t publish invented ratings, reviews or “tested” claims. Editor takes on individual hats are labeled “Researched, not tested.”
