Renaissance fairs reward a man who commits, and this hat commits for you. It is the Cavalier shape in black heavyweight cowhide, finished with a leather band, a silver buckle and a hat feather tucked in place. A 4 1/2 in brim and a 5 in crown give it the swagger of an old musketeer portrait. Fit comes from a Velcro sizer in the sweatband. Assembly happens in the USA. Pair it with a loose shirt, a vest and tall boots and you have most of a costume already.

Walt's tip: Store it with the feather side up and nothing pressing on it, or that plume will come out of the closet looking like it lost a duel.
