Oatmeal is the pale, flecked tan of a good wool sweater, and it brightens a dark coat. Here it comes in lightweight wool felt and top grain leather, shaped into a safari crown 3 3/4 in tall with a 2 3/4 in brim. A leather band closes with a buckle. There's an adjustable drawstring inside to settle the fit. MD and LG only, assembled in the USA. It suits brisk spring and fall days with a waxed jacket or a chunky knit.

Walt's tip: Light felt shows a fingerprint, so pick it up by the crown and keep your hands off the brim edge.

How should it fit?
Level on your head, about a finger above your eyebrows, clearing the tops of your ears. Sizes in stock run MD to LG. MD fits heads 22 to 22 3/4 in (56 to 57 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. Between sizes, size up and add an insert.

A coat, a good knit or a jacket in cooler months. Wear it level or tipped slightly forward with the pinch in front, and handle it by the brim so the crown doesn't crack.
