The name says it: the Soaker has a liner you can soak in water. Around it is polyester with lightweight mesh, shaped into a 3 3/4 in outback crown over a 2 3/4 in brim. The tag lists a sun protection rating of 50, says the hat resists water, and adds an adjustable chin cord. A braided band with a tassel trims the crown, and the Velcro sweatband is removable. Black looks neat with hiking gear. Assembled in the USA, sizes SM to 3X.

Margo's tip: Pull the removable sweatband now and then and rinse it, then let it air dry before it goes back in.

Which size of the Soaker should I get?
Measure your head where the hat sits and match it to the chart. SM fits heads 21 to 21 7/8 in (54 to 55 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. 3X fits heads 25 to 25 5/8 in (64 to 65 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. Between sizes, American Hat Makers says to size up and use the foam insert it includes.
Is the Soaker UPF rated?
Yes. The store lists a UPF 50 rating. The Skin Cancer Foundation says UPF 50 fabric blocks 98 percent of the sun's rays. Sunscreen still goes on the bits the brim misses.
Can you travel with the Soaker?
