Plenty of cowgirl straws come in pale shades. This one goes dark, which makes it easy to wear with black boots and denim. The women's Coyote is woven Bangora straw shaped into a cattleman crown, 4 1/4 in high, over a 4 1/4 in brim that throws a generous shadow. The band is two layers of faux leather finished with a concho. An elastic sweatband keeps fitting simple, and the hat is imported. Try it at a night rodeo, a county fair or an outdoor show with a black tank and a denim skirt.

Margo's tip: Brush dust off the straw with a dry cloth after the fair instead of water, and store it crown down.

Measure your head where the hat sits and match it to the chart. SM fits heads 21 to 21 7/8 in (54 to 55 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart.
