Spray, sweat and sun are the daily weather on a fishing boat, and this hat was built with that kind of day in mind. Lightweight cowhide in copper, a warm reddish brown, is joined with polyester mesh. The outback crown measures 3 3/4 in; the brim, 2 3/4 in. AHM gives it a sun protection rating of 50 and says it holds up to water. Trim is a braided band with a tassel hanging at the side, and a chin cord adjusts for wind. Sizes go from SM up to 3X. Assembled in the USA.

Margo's tip: On a boat, cinch the chin cord before you leave the dock, not after the first gust.

How should it fit?
Level on your head, about a finger above your eyebrows, clearing the tops of your ears. Sizes in stock run SM to 3X. SM fits heads 21 to 21 7/8 in (54 to 55 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. Between sizes, size up and add an insert.
Is the Breeze UPF rated?
Yes. The store lists a UPF 50 rating. The Skin Cancer Foundation says UPF 50 fabric blocks 98 percent of the sun's rays. Sunscreen still goes on the bits the brim misses.
Does it pack flat?

How do you care for a leather hat like the Breeze?
Wipe it with a soft, barely damp cloth and let it dry away from heat, which can stiffen and crack leather. A leather conditioner keeps it supple; test it inside the crown first. Never machine-wash it.
