Black straw is the after-dark summer hat. The Detroit is 100% paperbraid in black, shaped as a pork pie with a 4 in crown and a very short 1 1/2 in brim. A striped ribbon band with a crosspiece adds a crisp detail, and the sweatband is sewn-in twill fabric. It is imported. A brim this small offers more style than shade, so wear it to a rooftop bar, a jazz night or a summer wedding reception.
