Our take · Researched, not tested

A single white star that looks right on a dark hat.

By Walt Mercer, felt, fit and care desk Pen name, fact-checked by our team

One white star, small, held on by a backing magnet. White has the most to say against a dark felt, so this pin earns its keep on black, chocolate and charcoal hats. The magnet lets you attach it to a hat or clothing without leaving a mark, and switch it to another hat whenever you change your mind.

Walt's tip: Keep magnetic pins away from phone cards and hotel keys in the same pocket. Old advice, still true.
