The women's Liberty is built around sunshine. Firm, midweight Mexican palm straw forms a cowboy crown standing 4 1/2 in, and the brim is the reason to buy it: 4 1/4 in all the way around, which puts more of you in shade than a trim cowgirl brim would. Silver studs on a 1 in leather band give the natural straw some shine. The sweatband is elastic. Take it to county fairs, outdoor concerts and summer barbecues.

Margo's tip: It comes in MD, LG and XL. If you land between two, size up and add a sizer rather than forcing a smaller straw onto your head.

How should it fit?
Level on your head, about a finger above your eyebrows, clearing the tops of your ears. Sizes in stock run MD to XL. MD fits heads 22 to 22 3/4 in (56 to 57 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. Between sizes, size up and add an insert.
Is the Liberty UPF rated?
