Plain straw is fine. Straw with a painted brim and a braided band in two tones is a little more fun. The Cassius is midweight palm straw in natural, cattleman crown at 4 in, with a 4 1/4 in brim that throws shade over your face and neck. A row of three eyelets on each side lets air move through the crown. Elastic sweatband, sizes SM through LG. Imported.

Cody's tip: Don't store it in a hot attic or a truck bed. Straw and heat don't make good roommates.

Which size of the Cassius should I get?

Measure your head where the hat sits and match it to the chart. SM fits heads 21 to 21 7/8 in (54 to 55 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. LG fits heads 22 7/8 to 23 1/2 in (58 to 59 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. Between sizes, American Hat Makers says to size up and use the foam insert it includes.

Is the Cassius UPF rated?
