A wide straw is the most dependable shade you can buy for a summer arena. The Deuce is tan Bangora straw with a Cisco crown at 4 1/2 in and a brim of the same 4 1/2 in, which covers the face, ears and much of the neck. Its faux leather band carries embroidery and conchos. The sweatband is described as moisture wicking, and the hat is imported. Take it to a ranch rodeo, a dusty fairground or a day on horseback in July.

Margo's tip: A wide brim catches wind. On a gusty day, snug the fit and hold it by the crown when you turn into the breeze.

Measure your head where the hat sits and match it to the chart. SM fits heads 21 to 21 7/8 in (54 to 55 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. XL fits heads 23 5/8 to 24 1/4 in (60 to 61 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. Between sizes, American Hat Makers says to size up and use the foam insert it includes.
