Cuenca plumilla toquilla is the material name, and it means genuine Panama straw. The Tulum shapes it in natural into a fedora with a 4 in crown and a 2 1/2 in brim, and the design is vented for warm days. A grosgrain ribbon band with a crosspiece trims the base, and inside is a Velcro sweatband. It's imported. Wear it with a white shirt and light chinos on vacation, and plan on shade for your neck.

Margo's tip: Set a Panama down on its crown, never flat on the brim, and keep it out of a hot car.
