Our take · Researched, not tested

A small black skull and crossbones that sticks by magnet, not by needle.

Painted portrait of Walt Mercer
By Walt Mercer, felt, fit and care desk Pen name, fact-checked by our team

This little black skull and crossbones pin holds on with a backing magnet, so it clips through fabric without leaving a hole. That makes it handy on a felt hat you care about, and just as easy to move to a jacket or a bag strap. A plain hat with no band gets the most out of it.

Walt's tip: Keep the backing magnet flat inside the band so the pin sits square on the outside.
