Our take · Researched, not tested

A small gold pin that clicks on with a magnet. No holes required.

By Walt Mercer, felt, fit and care desk Pen name, fact-checked by our team

This gold pin holds on with a backing magnet, so it goes on a hat band or a jacket lapel without poking a hole in anything. That matters more than you'd think on a good felt hat, where a pinhole stays put for life. It's small, which keeps it on the tasteful side of hat decoration. Move it from hat to coat as the day goes. Imported.

Walt's tip: Set it on the side of the band, where it won't catch your fingers when you lift the hat off.
