Coal is a soft charcoal that's lowkey easier to wear than true black, especially with gray knits. This fedora mixes lightweight wool felt and top grain leather in a safari crown, 3 3/4 in tall, with a 2 3/4 in brim and a leather band that buckles. The sweatband has an adjustable drawstring. Outfit formula: this hat, a long gray coat, a black turtleneck and leather boots. MD and LG, assembled in the USA.

Jessica's tip: Go silver or gunmetal with coal. Gold can look a bit lost next to charcoal.

How should it fit?
Level on your head, about a finger above your eyebrows, clearing the tops of your ears. Sizes in stock run MD to LG. MD fits heads 22 to 22 3/4 in (56 to 57 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. Between sizes, size up and add an insert.
