Our take · Researched, not tested

Brown beadwork for a hat that needs some ranch-town character.

Painted portrait of Walt Mercer
By Walt Mercer, felt, fit and care desk Pen name, fact-checked by our team

The Maverick is a beaded hat band in warm brown tones, sold without a hat. Beadwork adds texture up close while the brown keeps it from shouting across the room. It sits well on a tan or black felt hat and on natural straw, so one band can rotate between a winter hat and a summer one. One size.

Walt's tip: Slide it on evenly so it sits level all the way around the crown.
