Soft straw is easy to wear for hours, and the women's Johvan keeps things simple. Its straw is toyo, soft and light, tightly woven and natural in color, in an outback shape with a 4 in crown and a 3 1/2 in brim. Double thin suede strips make up the band. An AHM Velcro sweatband adjusts, and it is imported. Pair it with a gingham dress at a backyard party, or a swimsuit cover-up at the beach.

Margo's tip: Let a damp straw air dry on its crown. A towel underneath helps if it's been through a sprinkler.

Level on your head, about a finger above your eyebrows, clearing the tops of your ears. Sizes in stock run SM to 3X. SM fits heads 21 to 21 7/8 in (54 to 55 cm) on American Hat Makers' chart. Between sizes, size up and add an insert.
