When the weather cools, straw goes back on the shelf and felt comes out. The Dublin is 100% wool in brown, shaped as an outback with a 4 1/4 in crown and a 2 7/8 in brim, a moderate edge that keeps rain off your glasses but still fits under a low branch. The sweatband adjusts with Velcro, and the hat is imported. Wear it with a waxed jacket and boots for a dog walk, a farmers market in October or a misty hike.

Margo's tip: If it gets damp on the trail, let it dry naturally on its crown, then brush the wool counterclockwise once it's dry.
