Our take · Researched, not tested

A camel trucker in waxed canvas and straw, with a pep talk sewn inside.

By Cody Hale, cowboy hats desk Pen name, fact-checked by our team

Most trucker caps are foam and mesh and a prayer. This one is camel-colored waxed canvas with straw and mesh worked in, which gives it a rugged, outdoorsy look. It's a structured five-panel split fit with a 4 1/2 in crown, a 2 3/4 in brim and a snapback. Look under the brim and you'll find some printed motivation, starting with Let's Go. One size fits the snapback range. Imported.

Cody's tip: Curve the brim a little with your hands if you want it to sit lower over your eyes. Don't crease it in half.

Questions

What size is the Burnt Ridge?

The store lists it as one size, which it describes as one size fits most. If you measure at either end of the size chart, a fitted hat in your size may sit better. A foam insert can take up a little room.

Is the Burnt Ridge UPF rated?

The listing doesn't state a UPF rating, so don't assume one. Shade depends on the brim and how tight the weave is. Hold it up to a bright light: if light shows through, so does UV.

How do you clean the Burnt Ridge?

Brush off dust with a soft brush and dab marks with a barely damp cloth. American Hat Makers suggests cornstarch for sweat or grease spots, brushed off after it sits. Never soak straw, and let it dry on its crown.

Can you return it?

Per American Hat Makers, as stated on their site Nov 6, 2026, it offers 90-day easy returns. Policies change, so confirm on the store's page before you order.

Do you sell this hat?

No. American Hat Makers sells it. The store button opens their product page, and we earn a commission if you buy, at no cost to you.
