Our take · Researched, not tested

A beige hat bag with room for a tall crown.

By Walt Mercer, felt, fit and care desk Pen name, fact-checked by our team

Traveling with a good hat means finding it a proper seat. This beige bag from American Hat Makers measures 17 in wide by 16 in tall and has a pocket shaped for the crown, sized for crowns up to 6 in. That covers most cowboy and western crowns. The AHM name is on the outside, so nobody has to guess whose hat is inside.

Walt's tip: Check your crown height before you buy. If it's taller than 6 in, the crown pocket won't close around it properly.
