Bison leather is the less common cousin of cowhide, and this brown outback puts it to work. The crown stands 4 in and the brim spreads 3 1/4 in, with leather trim laced at the side for a bit of detail. There's a Velcro sweatband inside, it comes in MD to XL, and it's assembled in the USA. Leather takes wind and rough handling well but runs warm in high heat, so it's at its best on cool mornings, windy ridges and fall trail days.

Margo's tip: A 3 1/4 in brim shades the face but not much of the neck. Add a collar or sunscreen on bright days.
