Our take · Researched, not tested

A black feather with blue hiding in it, like a crow in sunlight.

Painted portrait of Walt Mercer
By Walt Mercer, felt, fit and care desk Pen name, fact-checked by our team

At first glance it's a black feather. Look again and there are blue tones worked into it, which catch light as you move. It sits well on a black, gray or navy hat, or adds a bit of color to a brown one. You're getting the feather only, ready for the band you already have.

Walt's tip: Slide the quill under the band with the tip angled back, so it follows the line of the brim.
