Our take · Researched, not tested

A black feather with green hues that catch the light.

Painted portrait of Walt Mercer
By Walt Mercer, felt, fit and care desk Pen name, fact-checked by our team

Black feathers are dependable, and the Golly adds a little surprise: green hues set into the black. The contrast reads well against a felt or straw hat in neutral tones. It is sold as the feather only, so plan to tuck it into a band you already have.

Walt's tip: Pair a green-toned feather with a brown or tan band so the color stands out rather than disappearing into black.
