Our take · Researched, not tested

Burgundy lace, ivory trim and a cameo. Victorian, with a wink.

By Walt Mercer, felt, fit and care desk Pen name, fact-checked by our team

Lace bands belong to the parlor more than the ranch, and this one leans into it. Burgundy lace sits over fabric with an ivory trim, finished with leather tails and a cameo at the center, natural in tone and touched with burgundy. AHM says it fits most hats, and it's assembled in the USA. Put it on a black top hat or a dark felt and it changes the whole costume.

Walt's tip: Set the cameo at the front center or just left of it, where it can be seen and won't press into your brow.

Questions

How do you care for a leather hat like the Burlesque?

Wipe it with a soft, barely damp cloth and let it dry away from heat, which can stiffen and crack leather. A leather conditioner keeps it supple; test it inside the crown first. Never machine-wash it.

Can you return it?

Per American Hat Makers, as stated on their site Nov 6, 2026, it offers 90-day easy returns. Policies change, so confirm on the store's page before you order.

Do you sell this?

No. American Hat Makers sells it. The store button opens their product page, and we earn a commission if you buy, at no cost to you.
