One red feather, natural, about 3 in wide and 4 in long. Because it's a real feather, the exact shape and shade will vary a little from the photo. Tuck the quill under the band on the left side and let it angle back. Red gives a dark felt hat a spark of color without changing its character.

Walt's tip: Angle the feather toward the back of the hat, following the line of the crown, so it doesn't stick out sideways.
