Some outback hats are plain tools. This one dresses up a little. The body is genuine leather in a Jurassic finish, shaped with a cowboy crown 5 in high and a brim of 3 3/4 in, which shades the face and the tops of the ears. Two rows of beads ride on a mocha suede underlay. Leather shrugs off wind and rough handling but runs warm on hot days, so save it for breezy trails and cooler afternoons. Sizes are MD, LG and XL, with an AHM velcro sweatband, assembled in the USA.

Margo's tip: Tuck a hair tie in the band before a windy hike. Low bun under, hat on, and nobody's chasing anything.
